Gabler Promise Scholars Program

The Gabler Promise Scholars Program, funded by a generous gift from UCSB Alum Elizabeth Gabler, supports students in the Promise Scholars program with a year of instruction and mentoring in writing.

Betty Elings Wells Scholars

Betty recently met three of the twenty Promise Scholars she is funding through her generous gift of $500,000. Jacob Rodriguez, Daisy Bautista, and Lizbet Alvarez did a great job presenting to the Regents on what the Promise Scholars Program has meant to them.

Brian Galaviz

He is in the Honor’s program and is a McNair scholar, conducting research in biology. Brian recently returned from a study abroad trip in Japan. Brian was recently admitted to the Biology Ph.D. program at Dartmouth. 

Aliyah Dunbar

Through Meet the Firms, Aliyah received an internship opportunity in the summer of 2019, where she was offered the opportunity to travel to Panama. She has officially secured a job with Deloitte upon graduation.

Veronica Eseka

Veronica Eseka

She was selected as the Marty Stone 2018 Promise Scholar. Veronica is a student leader with the Coalition for a Better UC which secured 10 million dollars for low income students in summer of 2019. She recently participated in UCDC where she worked in the office of Senator Dianne Feinstein and she is currently preparing for law school applications.

Marissa Woods

Her essay, “Housing Discrimination in Economics and Health,” was selected for publication in the 17th edition of Starting Lines: An Anthology of Student Writing, published through the UCSB Writing Program. She’s currently preparing for graduate school applications.
